World Kindness Day is a global celebration of promoting ‘kindness in all its forms’ on the 13th November. It has inspired many examples of undisputable kindness in the UK over the years, here are a few of our favourites:
- Kindness UK handed out 10,000 free chocolate bars at London Train Stations
- Kindness UK encouraged a Text Wave that swept the UK
- Kindness Scotland put on ‘Kind Kid Awards’

Here at Your Move, we love helping people settle into their new homes, but a big part of that experience is meeting and getting to know your local neighbours, who can be incredibly kind to street newcomers!
Our Emarketing Manager, Alex Bland, recalls how she was once considerate to a new neighbour, and demonstrates how that kindness can go a really long way:
“When an elderly lady moved in next door to the pub I used to run, a couple of us went round to explain that on Friday and Saturday evenings we would be playing loud music until about 12pm and would this disturb or frighten her? To our delight – as we didn’t want to upset anyone, ‘Mrs Compton’, went onto explain that she was hard of hearing and so wouldn’t be disturbed at all. At that point Mrs Compton also offered us her car parking space to be used whenever we needed as she no longer drove.
For the kindness that Mrs Compton showed us and for the use of the space, we offered to take her a hot cooked meal twice a week as a kind neighbourly offering much to the delight of her family who were not local and knew she was being looked after by her local neighbours.”
