Daniel Szasz, Sales Branch Manager at Park Gate, Southampton is taking part in a fundraising football tournament, part of the ‘Football for Cancer’ initiative.
Daniel was inspired to fundraise following the challenges faced by his father who suffered from cancer some years ago and who still suffers from the aftermath of treatment despite being given the all clear.
“I’ll be playing in a serious, but friendly, football tournament on the 27th March at Totton Football Club in memory of those who have been affected by cancer and those who we have lost loved ones to this disease,” Daniel told us.
It’s part of the Football for Cancer initiative that was founded in 2008 by Raymond Ogilvie – a man who’d lost close members of his family to the disease and who wanted to do something to help those affected by it, bearing in mind that 1 in 3 of us will contract cancer in our lifetime. The aim of the charity was to build a community of football players, sponsors and supporters to take part in charity events to raise money for it.
“Anyone is welcome to the event I’m taking part in but, in the meantime, I’d appreciate it if anyone could spare a couple of pounds to support me via my Justgiving page and help me raise as much money as possible for this great cause. I thank you all in advance for your support.”
