It’ll probably come as no surprise to you that demand for village life has absolutely sky-rocketed this year.
Agents across the UK have told us that they’re witnessing a ‘rural renaissance’ as people make plans to move out to the countryside for a new, quieter lifestyle.
So we thought it’d be fun to show you a selection of the most expensive villages in the UK.
From Premier League footballer territory to exclusive beachside enclaves, check out the villages that could be top of your home-hunting list if you won the lottery next week.
South East: St. George’s Hill
This effortlessly charming corner of Surrey is flanked by beautiful woodland and, once upon a time, is said to have counted John Lennon as one of its residents.
The average price of property here is a whopping £2,132,924, which makes it one of the most affluent postcodes in the UK.
The sense of exclusivity associated with St. George’s Hill is reinforced by the fact that there are only about 500 homes nestled on this private estate.
It’s also home to its very own elite-level golf and tennis clubs, which both go a long way to making this village so popular with celebrities.
South West: Sandbanks
If you’ve ever wanted to live within walking distance of world-renowned beaches and celebrity restaurants, then you’ll want to start looking at properties down in Sandbanks.
Known as ‘Britain’s Palm Beach’, this exclusive peninsula at the mouth of Poole Harbour offers some of the best sea views of anywhere in the UK and is home to chef Rick Stein’s restaurant.
Buyers will need to find £1,272,083 on average to purchase a home here, but we think Sandbanks is worth every penny.
You’ll be hard pushed to find a greater variety of luxurious homes than on this south coast paradise.
North West: Hale Barns
Tucked away just 30 minutes south of Manchester, Hale Barns is a beautiful rural enclave and a real gem of the North West.
Its population at the 2011 consensus was fewer than 10,000 and it’s said to be a very popular location among Premier League footballers looking to settle down with their families.
It’s one of the most desirable villages in the North West, due to its proximity to Manchester and its countryside charm, and the average asking price of property here is £1,080,365.
From Hale Barns, you can reach both Old Trafford and The Etihad in under half an hour, and it’s less than a 10-minute drive to Manchester Airport, making it a perfect base for footballers playing in overseas European ties.
Yorkshire and The Humber: Scarcroft
You’ll find this quintessential English village roughly six miles northeast of Leeds and for the people of Yorkshire this rural community is cited as one of the most sought-after places to live.
The average price of property here will set you back £820,416, making it a slightly cheaper alternative to some of its southern counterparts in this list.
However, to give you a sense of how that figure compares locally, the average price of homes in West Yorkshire as a whole is £202,522.
The village has previously been home to some of the most expensive streets in Leeds, and with some absolutely stunning countryside on its doorstep, you can see why this village is so popular.
West Midlands: Little Aston
Another firm favourite with A-listers, this characterful village in south Staffordshire has previously been home to none other than iconic James Bond actor Roger Moore.
This picturesque village is nestled less than 10 miles north of Birmingham, but is also just a stone’s throw from Sutton Park, a 2,400-acre park filled with forests, lakes and even wild ponies!
The average price of property here is £820,415, which is 17% up on this time last year.
At the last UK census there were fewer than 1,000 homes in the village, and if you’d like to see what’s currently available, take a look below.
