Congratulations to Letting Compliance Director for Your Move, Valerie Bannister, who has been highlighted by JustGiving as being in the top 5% of their fundraisers in November after recently taking part in the Great Agent Sleep Out in aid of the charity, Centrepoint – as recently reported on our blog.
Taking into account 18599 other fundraisers, Val managed to raise the most money for charity during that month and, with more than £1,600 raised so far, she is determined to keep the funds coming in.
As a reminder Val joined others within the estate and lettings industry in sleeping outdoors (overnight) in Olympic Park in London as part of a fundraising campaign that Propertymark, the organisation that supports consumers who are buying, selling or renting property, ran.
The aim is to raise much needed funds for UK charity, Centrepoint, which addresses homelessness and currently supports over 15,000 16-25 year olds into a home and a job every year through a network of 40 partner organisations.
Val commented about her fundraising:
“The night of the Sleep Out was cold and without any hint of exaggeration, ‘monsoon’ category rain. The Olympic Park was quickly turned into a boggy marsh and I can still conjure up the smell of damp grass and wet mud several weeks on. I left the Sleep Out in pitch darkness the following morning at 5.25 am and by the time I got back to base, I was wet through and frozen! Even a scalding hot shower and cup of tea did nothing to remove the chill.
But I am lucky – I could change out of my wet clothes, have a hot shower, make a cup of tea and ramp up the central heating. All basic things we take for granted.
I heard amazing life stories of how young people had their lives turned round because of the work and support of Centrepoint, and that really did make me reflect on the simple things we all readily take for granted.
It is a huge thank you to my supporters who have given generously and to the Hub teams in Charlotte Place Hub who are still gathering in donations to further boost my JustGiving page.
Any donations will continue to be welcomed by me and all those that Centerpoint helps.”
Well done Val and if you’d like to support her further, simply visit the Justinggiving page and donate.
