Its good luck to Tim Ashmore and Simon Perry from Your Move who are both taking part in the London Marathon this weekend to raise funds for causes very close to their heart.
Tim Ashmore
Tim will be joining his brother to raise funds for Katherine House Hospice in Stafford.
Tim commented: ” My family lost our “Little Nan” to cancer earlier this year and simply want to raise funds for Katharine House Hospice who looked after her so well – and with such care and dignity – when she was going through her treatments.
Katherine House provides free hospice care services for people faced with an illness that cannot be cured and yet enables their patients (and those close to them) to make the most of the time that’s left. Our Nan was an amazing lady and we are so grateful for the support that Katherine House gave her. It’s for that sole reason we have been training hard (despite the poor weather we’ve had) to complete the Marathon and to raise as much money as we can for them – any donation, therefore, would be very gratefully received.”
Simon Perry
Simon is raising funds for the Guys & St Thomas’ Kidney Patients’ Association.
Simon explains: “When my sister was just 15 years old she suffered total kidney failure and was admitted to Guys Hospital. Since then she has had years of hospital stays, visits, dialysis and, fortunately, a transplant – although now needs another one. Throughout this time the Kidney Patients Association provided much needed practical and emotional support to her (as well as the rest of our family) and I know continue to help kidney patients of Guy’s and St Thomas’s and the Evelina London Children’s Hospitals to achieve a good quality of life – as well as support kidney research and awareness of kidney disease and organ donation. Ironically when my wife Maria fell ill, she was prescribed the same immunosuppressant drugs that had been developed in organ transplant research.
As a result Guys & St Thomas’ Kidney Patients’ Association is a charity that I am passionate about and am therefore keen to raise as much money as I can in the hope they can help – and make a positive difference – to even more kidney patients and families in the future.
