Franchisee Sue Petty of Your Move Petty Freeman in Sidcup is taking a very active role in supporting her local community and gaining a lot of praise as a result.
Sue, who is chairman of the Sidcup Town Team Consortium (STTC) – a voluntary group of local businesses, residents and interested parties who aim to increase footfall within Sidcup – was recently the driving force behind a local initiative that saw the whole town celebrate Chinese New Year and, in doing so , raised money for a variety of local charities.
The event, which took place in February, saw Sue play a pivotal role in organising free attractions in the town with Tradtional Lion Dances, a Chinese Calligraphy workshop, Chinese crafts and face painting organised as part of the celebrations as well as a number of fundraising initiatives for charity.
Rachelle Harte of Lollipop Events who supported Sue and STTC in putting on the event commented: “Sue is the lynch pin for everything going on in town. She brings business and sponsors together and persuades them to get involved in the community – which brings more business to the town. Without Sue there would be no events and, while she doesn’t get many thanks, the community is hugely grateful.”
