On the Saturday, Monday and Tuesday following the Election Your Move branches in the Midlands and Yorkshire saw more buyers than normal ‘make offers’ on properties with the intention to make a move in the coming weeks and, it is hoped, marks the start of more activity in the market generally.
Martin McCreath, Regional Managing Director for Your Move commented:
“In the weeks leading up to the Election there was certainly some reluctance from prospective sellers and buyers to enter the market but now we have a Government in place – elected following a majority decision – there definitely appears to be more people wanting to buy and signs of pent up demand for property.
Already consumer confidence is improving and UK wages are on their way to beating inflation. When you combine this with recent stamp duty changes and the inevitable help that should come to the property market – as promised by all political parties – many should be in a much better position to buy and anyone thinking about selling should perhaps do so now.
We’ve had enquiries about the full range of properties we have available from first time buyers and prospective landlords to those looking to move to bigger properties or even downsize -so any property owner thinking about making a move should act now and, who knows, help others and possibly themselves get the key to the door of a property they want – just like David Cameron did.”
